getting started with custom letterpress

we are excited to work with you on a custom order that is tailored to your specific needs. our team creates your order from start to finish in our portland store and we are here to help in person, through email, or over the phone.

Letterpress printing

We produce work by antique letterpress, a historic method of printing that uses raised type and images. The text and images are made into plates which are literally “pressed” into the paper, leaving a distinctive and elegant impression in the surface of each hand-fed piece of paper.

Getting started

our samples serve as starting points for your orders, but there are myriad ways to make your letterpress order your own. Each portion of our samples can be customized, from paper to ink colors to typeface. try overlapping two inks to make a third color, incorporate a foil element into your design, or do a blind impression with no ink at all. your letterpress order can be as simple or as detailed as you like. we offer a variety of paper options, ranging from text weight to 4 ply. we also offer a soft, textured paper that we make in house. this handmade paper is available with 4 deckle edges. if you're ordering invitations, additions like wax seals, twine, and vellum jackets are a great way to make them extra special.

our team will show you samples to inspire your order and will work with you to choose a design. if you have custom art, we can incorporate it.
